I love the crisp lettuce and sweet vegan Big Mac sauce. I think without those 2 things this would be lacking in the tasty department.

It’s hilarious that this vegan Big Mac is more calories than the real thing. I love calories. Carbs. Vegenaise. I will admit that the bean patties are way bigger than they need to be. The recipe below will represent what’s shown in the photo but feel free to cut the bean burger measurements in half. I still haven’t perfected the exact amount of mashed beans to bread crumb ratio. If you add too much bread crumbs then the patties come out dry (which I often do). If you add too little then the patties are a bit mushy. I say make them dry then add more vegan Big Mac sauce to even it out.

Vegan Bean Burgers: 2.5 servings of refried beans from a can (almost the whole can) + approx 1/2 cup bread crumbs (60 grams)

Vegan Mac Sauce: 1 TB vegan mayo + 1 ts ketchup (here’s a full on Mac Sauce recipe)

Toppings: shredded iceberg lettuce, 1 slice of vegan cheese

Fries: potatoes, water, oil, salt

2 Bottom Buns + 1 Top Bun

  1. Slice and chop the potatoes into fry shape. Rinse potatoes with water then dry with a paper towel. Coat with oil and salt. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
  2. Mash refried beans with bread crumbs. Add more bread crumbs to firm the patties up. Use less to make patties less dry but more mushy. Grill patties.
  3. Mix 1 TB vegan mayo with 1 ts ketchup
  4. Put shredded lettuce on the bottom bun. Put 1 slice of vegan cheese on the lettuce. Add bean patty on top of vegan cheese. Put the second bottom bun on top. You may need a tooth pick to hold those all together.
  5. Add lettuce to the second bottom bun then top with second bean patty.
  6. Put vegan Mac sauce on the top patty. Crown it with the top bun.
  7. Plate with fries with the burger. ENJOY

This McGriddle recipe is kind of lazy. For one I didn’t make pancakes and instead used cinnamon raisin English muffins. I didn’t take the time to make a vegan egg substitute because L-A-Z-Y. One idea I had was just cutting tofu into round pieces with a cookie cutter. I used lightlife meatless sausage because it’s the best flavor ever. I also used frozen hashbrowns from the store since they look exactly how I wanted them to look and they’re cheap as fuck.

vegan sausage patties, 1 slice vegan cheese, cinnamon raisin English muffin (I used Ezekiel brand), maple syrup, hashbrowns, ketchup (optional)

  1. Form patties out of vegan sausage and grill
  2. Grill English muffins with maple syrup poured on one or both sides
  3. Put vegan cheese on the bottom part of the English muffin. Place vegan sausage on top then crown with English muffin top.
  4. Cook hash browns and serve with vegan McGriddle. ENJOY
